The back light feature is great for inspecting pinholes, emulsion breakdowns, exposure effectiveness (on half tones) and fine lines during the washout process. The HIX washout booth is formed from a single piece of polyethylene plastic molded construction which makes it virtually leak-proof.


It is also chemical resistant, rust proof and impact resistant. The standard 1" drain and 1" hose hooks up easily to your drain system. The washout stand consists of solid welded aluminum frame construction with tooless assembly.

The patented HIX Reten frame offers the most advanced features in frame technology. You'll save both time and money with our square sidebars. Fastrax mesh mounting system and Accutrax Tensioning. You'll also increase your mesh life dramatically (up to 7 times) while reducing your ink consumption by 20‰.


Square sidebars won't let Retens warp like some retensionables. They clamp easily into any printer without adapters saving you time and money. If you "gang run" smaller jobs you can rotate and reposition Retens in seconds. You won't be replacing any mesh due to nicking and tearing because there is no exposed fabric wrapped around our sidebars. Retens tape and handle like wood or rigid aluminum frames so there's no need for fabric protectors, special carts or special screen room handling.

The Fastrax system is the quickest "fabric to frame" technique available on any frame. There's no presoftening. Corners can be softened at any time during tensioning or retensioning. Our color coded double spline fabric locks easily in our continuous slot. No more damaged mesh from inferior end threading systems.

Tension control means quality control. That means Accutrax Tensioning. Dual tension jacks provide infinite fabric tension adjustments in each image area quadrant. You get consistent, controllable mesh tension and higher print quality with no thread distortion.

The King Pin Register system is designed to save additional set up time during pre press procedures. From film positive alignment, to screen exposure, to print set-up and registration the innovative King Pin system is simply the easiest to use; no measuring, no centering or taping.


You can combine the King Pin system with the optional HIX Micro-register print head. The pin plate quickly attaches to the new NP Bench and Rotary printer and can be easily retro-fitted to any existing HIX New Premier, Precisa or Bench printer. After aligning and punching film positives with the HIX hole puncher, simply place the art on the screen adapter plate dock the slotted Reten frames and expose your screens. After washing out the image and blocking out your screens, slide them onto your press’s dock pin and tighten.

Configuration Note:
The King Pin system will work on print heads using back or side clamps with only slight changes to handle subtle modifications and requirements of each configuration. On Side clamp configuration, the mount plate will be bolted onto the center of the cross tube. In the back clamp assembly, the mount plate will be attached and centered to the back inside wall just below the clamping bar.

1. After creating your own film positives or vellums, punch two holes with supplied King PIN hole punch.
2. Expose with the King PIN exposure plate, then mount the King PIN print head mount plate attached to the printer. Now you are ready to print in perfect registration.
3. Mount frames in alignment.

This high grade inkjet film material makes it easy to produce film positives quickly and accurately. No need for a dark room or expensive camera!

The key is using our Armur Inks in combination with our film. Armur Inks contain UV blocking agents to allow film positives to be burned to screens and this is not found in OEM inks. Be aware you cannot us just any brand of ink.

As an added bonus you'll be able to produce digital inkjet heat transfers with the same Armur Ink print system. All you'll need is our InkJet Heat Transfer Paper and you're ready to produce commercial grade digital transfers! Don't turn down those highly profitable short run full color jobs. The Armur Ink system is great for textile orders such as shirts, mouse pads, tote bags and more!

Note: You cannot us just any brand ink. Inks that are included from companies like Epson (and others) are not engineered for the purpose of printing on film. Our Black Armur Ink contains UV blocking agents to allow film positives to be burned to screens and this is not found in OEM inks.

Other things you should know:
Although only black is required to produce positive film you will still need all colors for the printer to work. If your using a RIP you may be able to select just the black channel to print.

In the Photoshop print driver control panel there is a setting to select called "separations". This setting will instruct the printer to print black or half tones (if applicable for multi color/process images). In "print preview" select "output" and select "half tones" and make further setting selections as needed.

Using RIP software allows for controlling individual channels to output the specific halftones needed in order to print film positives. The benefit of using a RIP; It's faster and produces high quality half tones. Take a look at RIP's from companies such Multi RIP, Wasatch or Color Burst.
